About Hon Bavina Serem
Hon. Bavina Chepkurui Serem, affectionately known as "Chemarus," is a prominent Kenyan politician from Kipkelion West who currently serves as a Nominated Member of County Assembly (MCA) and the Deputy Chief Whip in the County Assembly of Kericho. A former school teacher and popular broadcast journalist for the Kalenjin-language station Kass FM, she successfully leveraged her media career and deep grassroots networks to transition into regional governance under the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party. Within the assembly, she represents Kunyak Ward and has gained national recognition as a staunch defender of county leadership, while building a legislative trademark centered on combating Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and empowering rural women. Driven by her high public profile, she is actively campaigning as a frontrunner for the Kericho County Women Representative seat ahead of the 2027 general elections, as tracked on the Politrack Africa Polling Register.
