Hon. Dr. Edward Oku Kaunya

Hon. Dr. Edward Oku Kaunya is a distinguished Kenyan administrator and politician currently serving his second consecutive term as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Teso North Constituency in Busia County under the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party. Holding a PhD in Political Science from the University of Fribourg, Switzerland, his early career was defined by high-ranking civil service roles, including serving as a District Commissioner and the Commandant of the Administration Police Training College. In the 13th Parliament, he applies this security expertise within the National Assembly’s Departmental Committee on Administration and Internal Security. As a widely recognized cultural spokesperson for the Iteso community, he remains a key figure in driving regional infrastructure development and shaping political alignments in western Kenya ahead of the 2027 polls.
