Hon. Sospeter Odeke Ojaamong

Hon. Sospeter Odeke Ojaamong is a veteran Kenyan politician and senior state officer currently serving as the Chairperson of the National Governing Council of the NEPAD/APRM Kenya Secretariat following his appointment by President William Ruto in 2024. Born in 1963, his extensive career in public leadership includes a decade-long tenure as the pioneer, two-term Governor of Busia County (2013–2022), as well as previously serving as the Member of Parliament for Amagoro Constituency. Having been fully acquitted of a long-running, multi-year graft case in May 2025 due to lack of evidence, Ojaamong has firmly revived his political career by officially declaring his candidacy for the Busia County Senatorial seat in the 2027 general elections under the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM Party) ticket. Running on a platform of maximizing revenue allocation to the grassroots, he has formed a formidable, high-stakes local coalition with incumbent Governor Paul Otuoma to unseat the highly vocal sitting Senator, Okiya Omtatah.
