GEORGE OKODE

George Owino Okode is a Kenyan lawyer and public official who has served as Speaker of the Siaya County Assembly since the establishment of Kenya's county governments in 2013. He is notable for his long tenure in the role, repeated re-election by Members of the County Assembly, and his involvement in overseeing legislative business and periods of executive transition within Siaya County.Okode was first elected Speaker of the Siaya County Assembly in March 2013 after the introduction of Kenya's devolved system of government under the 2010 Constitution. An advocate of the High Court of Kenya, he has presided over Assembly debates, legislative procedures, and oversight functions. In September 2022, he secured a third consecutive term as Speaker after receiving overwhelming support from members of the Assembly, reflecting sustained confidence in his leadership.
